Low-Speed Aerodynamic Analysis Using Four Different Turbulent Models of Solver of a Wind Turbine Shroud

Abstract This study presents the effect of four different turbulent models solver on aerodynamic analysis a shroud at wind speed below 6 m/s. The converting uses combination cylindrical case and an inverted circular wing base which captures from 360° direction. CFD used are: SST (Menter) k-ω model, Reynolds Stress Transport (RST) Improved Delay Detached Eddies Simulation model (IDDES) Large Wall Adaptive model. It was found that all have predicted convergent surface pressure. RST, IDDES WALE LES are only well described regions pressure gradient. They difference between planes (1–5) shows movement air lower plane 1 (inlet) to higher 5 (outlet). RST better vorticities (inlet). also IDDES, captured properly area turbulences across internal region case. All point flow separation. revealed can capture wake eddies planes. Thus, they most appropriate for such simulation although demanding in computational power. by almost could be drive turbine.
